SUMMARY:PACER Center Online Streaming Workshop: How to do an IEP document review
DESCRIPTION:PACER Center began in 1977 with one program called Parents Helping Parents.  It is a nonprofit organization located in Bloomington\, MN\, and for 49 years its mission has been to educate and support parents and families who have children with disabilities. Today PACER is nationally recognized for its ongoing work and dedicated staff.  They provide a wide variety of services not only to children but to their parents\, siblings\, grandparents\, and other family members.  PACER also has educational information in Hmong\, Spanish\, and Somali.  Their current workshops are all Online Web Streaming and are free.  You must register in advance online and then you will receive directions on how to join the workshop on the day of the event. \nTheir Toll-Free number is 800-537-2237. \nThe Individualized Education Program (IEP) can be confusing. It requires meeting with your child’s IEP team and doing an IEP document review from time to time to make sure your child’s needs are being met. This workshop will give participants tips on how to read the evaluation report and the IEP and show you the importance of progress reports. Learning these skills will help you make sure your child’s needs are being met or aid in clarifying areas of concern that you can discuss at your IEP team meeting.
