SUMMARY:Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA): Strength-Based Resilience: The Protective Power of Talents and Special Interests
DESCRIPTION:Anxiety and Depression of America (ADAA) began with a phobia meeting in 1978 in White Plains\, New York. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health disorder and is one of the most treatable. ADDA has been working to improve research\, education\, and treatment to find the cure for anxiety disorders and depression for the past 40 years. Registration is done online. \nThe speakers for this live event will be Mary K. Alvord\, PhD\, Lindsay Myerberg\, PhD\, and Rachel Weinstock\, PhD\, who will speak on the ways to build resilience in kids and adolescents. Participants will learn how helping kids and teens develop a special interest or talent can build a strong protective factor for them. You will also learn how to help them identify their talents and interests\, how that helps them build confidence and coping skills\, and how sharing interests gives them balance and connection. \nThis webinar is presented in collaboration with Resilience Across Borders. \nPlease note this event is not eligible for CEHs.

You can go to their website for a description of the workshop and details about the presenter. Registration is done online. Please note that the webinars are scheduled for Eastern Standard Time. If you can’t watch the webinar at its scheduled time you may still register and ADDitude will send you the link to the webinar after the 03/18/2026 presentation and you will be able to watch it at your convenience.\n\nThis webinar will be streamed at 1:00 pm EDT (that’s 12:00 pm our time) and lasts for one hour. The speaker for this webinar will be Gena VanderMeulen\, MA\, Ed.\, who is an academic ADHD coach at the ADHD Center of West Michigan. She is a Certified Professional Academic Coach and ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) as well as having advanced credentials in executive function\, study strategies\, and applied neuroscience. Ms. VanderMeulen works with middle school\, high school\, and college students.
