DESCRIPTION:PACER Center began in 1977 with one program called Parents Helping Parents.  It is a nonprofit organization located in Bloomington\, MN\, and for 49 years its mission has been to educate and support parents and families who have children with disabilities. Today PACER is nationally recognized for its ongoing work and dedicated staff.  They provide a wide variety of services not only to children but to their parents\, siblings\, grandparents\, and other family members.  PACER also has educational information in Hmong\, Spanish\, and Somali.  Their current workshops are all Online Web Streaming and are free.  You must register in advance online and then you will receive directions on how to join the workshop on the day of the event. \nTheir Toll-Free number is 800-537-2237. \nThe presenter for this event will be PACER’s Native American family advocate who will speak to Naive American parents & families\, caregivers\, and guardians on getting a better understanding of special education. Participants will learn about the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and the Individuals with Disabilities Educations Act (IDEA). They will also learn how to increase their parent involvement and advocacy in the school communities. DESCRIPTION:Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health\, also known as MACMH\, was founded in 1989.  The organization is a nonprofit that works “to promote positive mental health for all infants\, children\, adolescents\, and their families”.  They provide a wide variety of services and you can read more about their goals and services on their website. \nThe speaker for this virtual workshop will be Alyssa Mason who is an Occupational Therapist at M Health Fairview. She will speak on how to increase regulation for students in the classroom who are experiencing stress\, trauma\, or uncertainty. Participants will learn strategies that can be applied in group settings and the strategies may also help families and other service providers and caregivers. You may call or email them for more information or to register for their programs. \n\nLDA Minnesota offers adults who have ADHD two support group options.  There is a group that meets every Thursday morning from 10:00 am to noon in person and online via Zoom.  The evening group meets on the first and third Thursday of each month from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm online via Zoom.  Please note: The groups are free and are facilitated by trained volunteers.  If you are new and have questions or would like to join a support group meeting please call 952-582-6000 or email info@ldaminnesota.org to receive an invitation to the online meeting.  There is no registration required to attend the meetings.

DESCRIPTION:PACER Center began in 1977 with one program called Parents Helping Parents.  It is a nonprofit organization located in Bloomington\, MN\, and for 49 years its mission has been to educate and support parents and families who have children with disabilities. Today PACER is nationally recognized for its ongoing work and dedicated staff.  They provide a wide variety of services not only to children but to their parents\, siblings\, grandparents\, and other family members.  PACER also has educational information in Hmong\, Spanish\, and Somali.  Their current workshops are all Online Web Streaming and are free.  You must register in advance online and then you will receive directions on how to join the workshop on the day of the event. \nTheir Toll-Free number is 800-537-2237. \nThriving Together is a family guide to getting through disability services. It is a series of workshops that allows parents and professionals to come together and learn from one another. It can be difficult establishing your child’s special health care needs in school or in daycare. This workshop will explain the most common health and education plans\, how they work\, when these steps are needed\, the role of the school nurse\, and the roles of others on the team.
