Cynthia Hammer, MSW, is the Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit organization Inattentive ADHD Coalition established in 2021 and is located in Tacoma, Washington. She has experience in the nonprofit world as she also founded ADD Resources in 1993 which began as a support group in Tacoma. Cynthia ran this organization for 15 years and during that time her efforts expanded the group to a national organization that provided information and educational events on ADD.

Cynthia knows ADHD all too well and the many challenges it can cause in a person’s life because she was diagnosed in 1992 at the age of 49. At the time she thought she was the only person who had this diagnosis. It wasn’t long before she realized she wasn’t alone and she learned that 30% of the people who have ADHD have the Inattentive type and that they are often undiagnosed and treated. This information spurred her on to form the new organization Inattentive ADHD Coalition. Their Homepage lists the three key points to the focus of their work.

As always I encourage everyone to check out all the sections of a new website. Cynthia’s new book Living with Inattentive ADHD: Climbing the Circular Staircase of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder was published in 2023. On the Homepage under the section Living with Inattentive ADHD you can read a review of the book, Cynthia’s biography, and the history of how the book came to be. This section also provides other articles and events on ADHD. And it is always important to read the About Us section so you learn about the organization’s mission, history, board members, and policies.

The website has a free blog you can subscribe to, Stay Informed, which will provide you with their latest blogs, monthly enews, and their free monthly handout.

If you would like to read more of Cynthia’s articles you can find them on ADDitude Magazine.

For those with Inattentive ADHD this website offers you a place to start your ADHD journey of lifelong learning and connects you to others who have Inattentive ADHD who can offer you information and support.
