October is National ADHD Awareness Month

During National ADHD Awareness Month, various media outlets will provide you with ADHD information through educational articles, books, coaching, conferences, parenting classes, podcasts, and products. This information is not only for our ADHD community, but also for the general population to further their understanding of ADHD and to debunk the myths.

Perhaps the most energetic group working to educate and support those with ADHD are the ADHD coaches. You may have noticed by now that there are many coaches to be found on the Internet and on social media. And even if you never use an ADHD coach, you can find ADHD resources by browsing their websites and checking out the information they make available.

Susan Lasky, M.A., BCC, SCAC

Long-time readers of our newsletter know that we often introduce ADHD coaches in our Feature Articles as a way for you to expand your ADHD knowledge. For October, I’d like to introduce you to Susan Lasky, M.A., BCC, SCAC, who operates the website Susan Lasky, Productivity Solutions as part of her coaching and productivity/organization work.

Susan personally understands both the challenges of being an ADHD adult and raising an ADHD child. Before she began coaching, she was a co-founder of the ADD Resource Center website and, in 1989, founded CHADD of NYC. She has submitted articles to ADDitude Magazine and has written extensively on ADD, ADHD, and Executive Functioning. You can find her speaking at workshops, seminars, and regional, national, and international conferences about organization, time management, ADD/ADHD, motivation, and personal growth. For over 30 years, she has been helping people with ADD/ADHD, Executive Function (EF), and related issues. She has worked with adults, students, and business owners to help them navigate the daily challenges these issues present. She works out of Westchester County, NY, and collaborates with her clients via phone, email, Zoom, or in person.

Susan has an extensive listing of certifications and training. You can visit her Homepage on her website and click on ‘Meet Susan’, where you can review her educational background and a complete listing of her credentials. Her website gives detailed overviews of the different types of coaching and organizing.

She provides a resources page, which includes recommended books on ADD/ADHD/EF, products that she likes that help with staying organized, ADHD resources, free info sheets & articles, and free self-evaluations & screeners.

The final section you may want to review is her Blog. Like many of these websites, they offer a combination of free information, fee-for-service consulting, and program options. If you decide on a fee-for-service option, be sure to do your research.

National ADHD Awareness Month

I hope you will make the most of October and the many learning opportunities that will be offered. October can serve as your annual reminder to review the resources in your ADHD Toolbox and ADHD Library, identifying what you want to add or update. I encourage you to take some time to review this month’s Feature Article, and I hope it expands your ADHD knowledge.
